Overview

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation or a designated pick-up point. Starting from Christchurch, we’ll drive through the eastern suburbs, passing through New Zealand’s second-longest road tunnel to reach Lyttelton, the gateway to Christchurch. Known for its charm and history, Lyttelton is the South Island’s largest port. After exploring the town, we’ll continue along the newly restored Gebbies Pass Road. At the top, a scenic lookout offers stunning views of Lyttelton Harbour and Sumner Village, where we’ll stop for morning tea. A short drive from Sumner takes us to Taylor’s Mistake Beach, one of Christchurch’s hidden gems, where our walk begins. We’ll follow a scenic track along the coast, passing Boulder Bay before reaching Godley Head. This area is rich in World War II history, with bunkers, gun emplacements, and old military buildings—perfect for photos and a picnic lunch. After lunch, we’ll continue west along the track, taking in views of Lyttelton Harbour and Banks Peninsula before descending back to Taylor’s Mistake. An alternate route will return us to the city to complete your Christchurch and Godley Head tour.
