Experience a 4WD farm tour with challenging off-trail descents, alpine views, and a mountain lunch. Explore the QEII forest, waterfalls, native wildlife, and a refreshing swimming hole. End with an easy bush walk back to the car park.

Bush Creek QEII Covenant Tour Itinerary 

Arrive 8:30am 4wd tour through Island Hills Farmland

9:00 am Climb Clay Knob 2-3 hrs (hard steep climb)

12:00pm Lunch on Alpine tops

1:00pm Drop down into Bush Creek (difficult descent) (Cold Creek Dip) then back out past Historic Bush Hut (2 hrs)

3:30 pm Delivered back to the car park to drive to Hanmer

Four-wheel drive farm tour. Immerse yourself in breathtaking mountain scenery, lush forests, and picturesque low-input farm landscapes, all while being guided by an expert local who will share their knowledge of the area’s history, ecology, and wildlife.

Challenging off-trail descent up through the forest and out onto the alpine tops. Incredible views, lunch on the mountain. Steep difficult descent down into the QEII covenant forest. There are waterfalls, native plants and birds, a trapping/conservation program, and a beautiful (chilly) swimming hole to refresh. Easy Bush walk back out to 4wd then ride back to the car park.

The team at Island Hills Station includes NZwildthings Guides, who are certified in Mountain First Aid, hold firearms licences, and bring extensive experience as hosts.
