Taonga: The Pounamu Experience

South Island

Overview

A Sacred Connection to Māori Culture & Wellbeing In the heart of Ōtautahi Christchurch, immerse yourself in a truly meaningful journey—one that nurtures the spirit, fosters connection, and honors the traditions of Aotearoa. This half-day experience invites you into the world of Māori craftsmanship and storytelling. Under the guidance of master artisans, you will shape, smooth, and polish your own Pounamu (greenstone) taonga—a sacred treasure infused with personal meaning. As your hands work the stone, you’ll also feel a deeper connection to its history, its whakapapa (ancestry), and the energy it carries
